𝒯𝑜𝓅𝒾𝒸: "Sunshine"

𝒢𝑜𝑜𝒹 𝐸𝓋𝑒𝓃𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓉𝑜 𝒴𝑜𝓊,

Let me start off by recognizing this federal holiday, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and the blood, sweat, and tears sacrificed by such a phenomenal being. We know that Dr. King was a voice for the Civil Rights Movement which significantly fought peacefully against racial discrimination. We know Dr. King was a Baptist Minister who made headlines early on during the bus boycott in Montgomery, Alabama. We also know that he founded the Southern Christian Leadership conference and led the historic 1963 March on Washington. In 1964, Dr. King was awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace. This day, that we celebrate, remember, and honor Dr. King, did not come while he lived, but a decision made posthumous.

Today's entry is not intended to review Dr. King's work, speeches, resume, sermons, or historical moves. This piece is intended to uplift those who are struggling with deeply rooted and personal pressures of life. Some of you are experiencing divorce, financial woes, grief of a spouse or child, foreclosures, depression, social injustices, and unfortunately long-term illnesses.

I want to have the mindset of Dr. King in this moment and ask, if he was here today, what would Dr. King say to you?

In Dr. King's "I Have a Dream Speech", he referenced several verses of scripture but what I want to particularly point out is in Psalm 30:5 that reads, "Weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning". I believe if Dr. King was here today he would tell you in life, we will face some ugly storms; but the sun will still shine if you hold out. I believe Dr. King would say, trials are beyond our control and a test of our faith; but the sun will continuously shine if you hold out. Dr. King would probably say, some days will be so dark that you can't see one foot in front of the other; but the sun will continue to shine if you hold out. Dr. King might say, follow Christ Jesus and hold your head up high; because the sun is going to shine if you hold out. I believe Dr. King would say today, weeping may endure for a night, but you will have so much to rejoice over, if you just hold out.

It's okay to not be okay. This blog entry today is not for me to tell you to cheer up. I am not here to tell you that all days will be glorious. I am not here to tell you that divorce will be easy. I am not here to tell you that there will be no pain with sickness. I am not here to tell you that grief is temporary. I am not here to tell you financial issues are not burdensome. This entry is to remind you of Isaiah 40:31, "But they who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up on wings like an eagle; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint".

I want to encourage you that on the darkest of days, walk with God. Trust the ministry of Christ Jesus. Hold out just a little while longer. Cry if you need to. Weep if you must. Sob until you have no tears. But do not give up in the process. You will never reach your breakthrough if you flat out give up. The sun will still shine if you hold out. I believe Dr. King who fought many battles and huge wars would tell you, wait on the Lord and watch the mighty and miraculous works of His hands.

Father God in the name of Jesus, I pray for every pierced heart. Father God I pray for every bleeding heart. Father God I pray for every aching heart. Father God touch every single soul reading this today. Father God strengthen that reader who is struggling to hold on another day. Father I pray for your supernatural power to turn their darkness into light once again. Father God heal the pain of divorce. Father God heal the pain of sickness. Father God heal aches of financial woes. Father God heal our nation. Father God heal our land. Father God heal our people. Father God I ask that in all things, Your will be done. Father God help us to conform to whatever Your will is. Father God, as I end this prayer, I ask You God for miraculous signs and wonders. Father show out in the lives of the readers today. Father God I pray that you bless the reader in such a way that they will know that it was only You who could have healed their hearts and soothed their situations.

It's in Jesus Name, I pray. Amen.
