𝒯𝑜𝓅𝒾𝒸𝓈: "Not So Popular? It's Okay"
𝒢𝑜𝑜𝒹 𝑀𝑜𝓇𝓃𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓉𝑜 𝒴𝑜𝓊,
This morning as I thought about a scripture for this week to send to our three teenagers, I thought about the pressures of high school in the 1990's. Even though generationally, the children and times are different, peer pressure isn't. The choice of having to make a right or wrong decision is the same. The pressure of what's happening entertainment wise, is the same. Instead of newspapers and television, we now have social media outlets such as Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, YouTube, and various others forms of entertainment and seeing what's trending.
With that, not only our teenagers can be tried and tested to do what's popular, but adults as well. I advise our children to never go with what's popular or what everyone else is doing. No matter what decisions you have made so far, it's not too late to say, "No Thank You".
Do you want to know something else that's not so popular? Sincere saints. Honest Christians. Pure hearted humans. If following God is not popular, go with the unpopular anyway. If reading your bible is unpopular, read it anyway. If having a life centered around prayer is unpopular, pray anyway. At the end of the day, it's all about God and His Son Jesus Christ, and that's okay. I choose Jesus Christ over and over again. Daily, we must all die to our flesh and die to what's popular. Be different. Stand tall. My husband Michael likes to say, Giraffe's aren't suppose to be on the same level as a turtle. Neither are you. As the scripture says in 1 Peter 2:9, we are a chosen race.
Father God, in the name of Jesus, we bless Your Holy Name today God!! Father God help us to not go with what's popular just because everyone else is doing so. Father God help us to stay focused on Your Word. The scripture says in Romans 12:2, "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect". Father God help our minds, our hearts, and our souls to stay within Your will at all times.
It's in Jesus name we pray, Amen.
