𝒯𝑜𝓅𝒾𝒸: How's Your Appetite?
𝒢𝑜𝑜𝒹 𝑀𝑜𝓇𝓃𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓉𝑜 𝒴𝑜𝓊,
John 6:35 reads, "Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst". Another scripture that comes to mind is Matthew 4:4 and it says, "But he answered, it is written, Man shall not live by the bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God".
Let me ask you five quick questions:
1. What are you eating?
2. What are you consuming?
3. What is your diet looking like?
4. Is your spirit or your flesh malnourished?
5. What is your palette hungry for and what is it that you crave?
Just think over these questions this week and the upcoming week.
I want you to remember this: Our five senses are the gateway to our soul. Touch, Sight, Hearing, Smell, and Taste.
Take a review of what you're watching. Think about the things you are listening to. What are you touching or allowing to touch you (even persons). What do you have a taste for? What are you hungry for? What do you thirst after? What does your circle look like and are they corrupting your spirit?
As Christians, our goal is to chase after God. Thirst for righteousness and holiness. Seek after the things of God. Does this mean you cannot have fun in life? No! Does this mean you need to be boring and mediocre? Of course not! There is a way to have close relationship with God through the acceptance of His Son, Jesus Christ, and still enjoy the fruits of your labor. God wants us to enjoy life. He wants us to live and love each other, the right way!
So Lady Monica, what can a person do to change our appetite for the Lord? I'm so glad you asked that question! First, do what Psalm 139: 23-24: "Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Allow God to "show you YOU".
Next, start by reading and studying in your bible. Understanding scripture and then applying it is the beginning of your transformation. Start praying more. The bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, "Pray without ceasing". If you feel you don't have the words to pray, pray the Lord's prayer. (Read the "Model Prayer entry).
Third, connect to other Christians. Surround yourself with like-minded people; Christ-centered people. Fourth, change our mindset. Proverbs 23:7 says, "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he". Speak positive over your life. Think positive over yourself. Minister to your own self sometimes. There is life and death in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). Search for scripture to learn and quote and make it applicable to your particular situation(s). The bible, (the Word of God), has applicable scripture to address all of your needs.
The closer you get to God, you will become more hungry and thirsty for Him. The bible says in Matthew 6:33, "But seek first His kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you". Putting God before everything else will keep your life in decency and in order. Allow the Holy Spirit of God to direct your path and be a lamp to your feet (Psalm 119:105).
Father in the name of Jesus, we want to thirst and hunger after You. Father God we want an appetite that will forever chase You. Father God guide us in the right direction that will keep us closest to You. Father God we ask You to change our taste buds and our palette's supernaturally. Father God I pray for every reader right now in the name of Jesus and I pray for their Salvation. I pray for their perseverance and strength in You. Father God deliver them from their struggles and temptations. Father eliminate the "junk food" from their lives. Father God restore the broken and help them so they may have an appetite for You first.
It's in Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
