𝒯𝑜𝓅𝒾𝒸: "Hanging on by a Thread; Literally"...
𝒢𝑜𝑜𝒹 𝑀𝑜𝓇𝓃𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓉𝑜 𝒴𝑜𝓊,
After work yesterday, my Mom and I were in the kitchen together laughing and talking. She had this weird looking water bottle half full of water, with an Ivy plant (aka Devil's Golden Pothos Ivy - ironically) coming out of it. Mom asked me if I remember this plant from several years ago. I'm looking at her all strange. I said Mom you literally have a plant growing out of a water bottle. She laughed! LOL. Mom reminded me, she planted it and would keep the water fresh and it grew, grew, and grew.
However, Mom had been traveling and the poor Ivy plant had been neglected. Now the reason why I was so taken aback by the sight of it was because it was still alive, hanging on by a "literal" thread. Guys, I'm dead serious here. I know that sounds cliché, but it was the thinnest vine I've ever laid eyes on. So Mom, of course, took off the dead leaves and saved the healthiest part of the plant.
Metaphorically, as I stared at this thread of a vine, it made me think of the connection to Christ. The vine was still connected and therefore survived. John 15:5 says, "I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing".
Outside of Jesus Christ, we cannot fruitfully grow. This message is very simple. Stay connected to the Source. Stay connected to the true Vine. Stay connected to the Lamb. Stay connected to Jesus Christ.
Father in the name of Jesus, we thank You for the ultimate Vine. We thank You for sending Your Son into a cruel world. He tackled all of our burdens and took them on the Cross for us. Father God we want to know the Vine. Father we want to stay connected to Him. Father if You search our hearts and find any part of us that's hanging on by a thread, strengthen that life line and show us the way to a righteous lifestyle pleasing to You.
It's in Jesus name we pray. Amen.
