Isaiah 1:6 reads, "Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil". This scripture isn't referring to literally taking a bath, or shower, or spraying cologne on you to make you appear more clean or smell more pleasant. This particular verse is encouraging you to cleanse you palette (speech). It's instructing you to be sure your heart is pure. It's teaching you make sure your actions are fruitful and thus representative of a relationship of with God through His Son, Jesus Christ. This scripture is asking you to check the status of your soul. Your heart.
Cleansing your palette is referencing your tongue. The word says in Matthew 15:11, "It is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; this defiles a person." Is your speech clean or offensive? Is your tongue sharp with the word of God or is it full of gossip? Watch your words and be sure their full of love and not foul language. Often times, what comes out of our mouth is the dirtiest part of us.
Moreover, I encourage each of us to check our hearts and souls. Remove yourself from evil things. Stop doing evil. There are things that you know, simply, are wrong. Stop today. Do better. Wash yourself clean through the Word of God, by asking for forgiveness and repenting. And finally, pray the prayer of Salvation if you are not saved. Ask Jesus to come into your heart. Renew your relationship with God if you have not been living like a true Christian. It's not too late to start over. Pray over your decisions from here out.
Father God in the name of Jesus, we ask You today God to come into our hearts. We ask You to wash our palette's with the blood of Jesus. We ask you God to deliver us from evil. Through Your Word God, we can grow closer to You. Through Your Word we can bear good fruit. Father God we give our whole hearts to you and we ask that You mash us white as snow through Your Son Jesus.
It's in Jesus name we pray. Amen.
